Bacs Processing Over Easter
and May Bank Holidays

Easter this year is early – on Sunday April 5th. As always, it brings extra bank holidays, meaning that Service Users need to carefully plan when to send their files to Bacs for processing. This is essential to ensure that collections and/or payments are made on time. See the simple table below to work out when your files should be sent to Bacs.

Easter Bacs Processing:

Date you want to receive Direct Debits

Tuesday 7th April
Wednesday 8th April

Latest date to send transactions to Bacs

Wednesday 1st April
Thursday 2nd April

Bacs Processing Tips:

Remember – Direct Debits due on the Bank Holiday should be collected the day after, not the day before the due date. You can submit files up to 30 calendar days in advance of the processing date and you can check the details of files that have been submitted on Payment Services website. This allows you to confirm the volume, value and date of payments.

To help your Bacs planning over this and other holiday periods such as Christmas, you can download the Bacs Processing Calendar

It’s not just Easter affected by additional bank holidays. May brings both an Early May Bank Holiday and the Spring Bank Holiday.
